Invitation to submit plants for conference auction

All members of the Clivia Society and Northern Clivia Club are invited to please enter plants for the Clivia Auction to be held on Tuesday 8 September 2026 as part of the Pretoria Clivia Conference 2026 program.  Completed entries must be submitted by 1 May 2026 via e-mail to conference@northernclivia.co.za

Entry forms to submit plants for consideration are included and can also be requested from Duncan Mathie on
+27 73 229 8830 or Michael Holt on +27 82 337 7920. The conference organizing panel will decide on the accepted entries by the end of May 2026 and publish the final list on various platforms including WhatsApp and social media.  The Panel’s decision will be final, and no discussion and/or correspondence will be entered into.

Ideally, only one specimen of a specific clone/cultivar (for instance “Vico Yellow”) will be auctioned.  Please note: It is the policy of the Northern Clivia Club that no habitat collected plants may be offered, furthermore NO Clivia mirabilis or hybrids thereof maybe offered.

Acceptable Species: Clivia miniata, Clivia caulescens, Clivia gardenii, Clivia robusta or Clivia nobilis as well as interspecific hybrids of these species.

Photographs should ideally be emailed and named to allow easy identification of the plant; for example, VicoYellow_Offset.jpg or VicoYellow.jpg, this will ensure the quality of the image is not compromised by WhatsApp. Any file format, except .RAW, will be acceptable.

Conditions of Sale

  1. Attendance and registration for the auction is included in the cost of conference registration. Those not attending the conference will need to pay R150 registration fee, which includes entrance to the pre-auction functions
  2. The highest bidder is the purchaser, subject to the reserve price being met.
  3. Plants are sold “as is” and prospective buyers are therefore advised to inspect same to determine quality and authenticity.
  4. Although the Clivia Society (CS) and the Northern Clivia Club (NCC) facilitate the auction, neither they nor their office bearers are responsible or accountable for the authenticity of any item on offer.
  5. The vendue roll (auction list) of sale is final.
  6. Bidding and payment will be in Rand.
  7. Payment will be made by credit card or Electronic Funds Transfer (a computer will be available for internet banking) in Rand after the auction. Ownership and responsibility for the plant is then transferred to the new owner (buyer).
  8. A commission of 15 % will be payable by the seller to the NCC following the sale of each item.
  9. Should the buyer require shipping, either within South Africa or internationally, the buyer will be responsible for all costs, documentation and shipping arrangements required in this regard.
  10. Late entries of NCC Show winners will be accepted for the auction but will only be auctioned if there is sufficient time after the catalogue entries have been auctioned. These plants will be moved to the auction venue at the owner’s risk.
  11. Reserve price. Sellers are welcome to set a reserve price for their plants. This information will be treated as sensitive information and will not be distributed. A note indicating there is a reserve price will be displayed. If a plant remains unsold due to the bid being lower than the reserve price, a commission of 15 % is still payable by the owner on the reserve price.
